NY sells former juvenile center for $6.65M
ALBANY (AP) -- New York officials say they have sold the state's former juvenile detention center in the south Bronx for $6.65 million at auction.
The Office of General Services says the winning bid for the Pyramid Reception Center is from the Bluestone Group in Manhattan.
The former Office of Children and Family Services' reception center for boys had six registered bidders and a minimum threshold of $3.9 million.
The closing with the real estate investment firm is expected over the next several months.
The 60,000-square-foot former YMCA building was built around 1915 on a nearly one-acre lot. It was taken over by the state in 1967.
