NY offers $45M in water quality grants
ALBANY, (AP) -- New York officials say $45 million in grants are available to municipalities, conservation districts and nonprofits for water quality projects.
Funding mainly from the state's Environmental Protection Fund is available for wastewater treatment, pollution abatement and restoring aquatic habitats.
The application deadline is Nov. 8 at the Department of Environmental Conservation.
The total includes more than $18 million for controlling polluted runoff from non-farm sources, $4 million for natural infrastructure to help minimize storm damage and $10 million for installing equipment to disinfect effluent from sewage treatment plants.
