Police: Three time felon arrested on marijuana growing charges

SCHENECTADY -  A Schenectady man with three felony prior convictions was arrested by State Police after a large marijuana growing operation was discovered in his home.

State Police, on a search warrant, searched the home of 55-year-old Wayne Nelson at 29 Willow Avenue in Schenectady.

Inside the house police say they discovered 172 actively growing marijuana plants and 18 pounds of already processed marijuana.  Police also seized quantities of "hash", hallucinogenic mushrooms, suboxone, marijuana growing equipment ,and $2308 in cash.

Nelson was charged with criminal possession of marijuana, multiple counts for criminal possession of controlled substance, and unlawfully growing cannabis.

He was arraigned, but because of his three previous felony convictions, he was denied bail.
