Nor'easter to Bring a Heavy to Major Snowfall Tonight into Tuesday Night

A major Nor'easter is expected to develop south of New England tonight, potentially getting stuck near Cape Cod into Tuesday before moving away Tuesday night.  This storm will bring heavy snow and gusty wind at times causing blowing and drifting snow, potential whiteout conditions at times leading to dangerous travel late tonight through Tuesday.  Snow accumulations of 10" to 20" will be possible, especially in the Hudson valley and across western New England with amounts up to 10" in the Mohawk valley and western Catskills.

2 people fatally struck by LIRR train in NYC

NEW YORK (AP) -- Two people have been struck and killed by a Long Island Rail Road train in Queens.
 
A LIRR spokesman says the two people were trespassing on the elevated tracks at 183rd Street and Liberty Avenue in Hollis when they were struck by a westbound train just after 10 p.m. Monday.
 
The victims' identities or why they were on the tracks was not immediately known.
 
The fire department says the victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Westbound trains have been delayed and the train involved in the incident was taken out of service.

The railroad says affected riders may be transported by bus.
