Man arrested on aggravated cruelty to animals charges

GLOVERSVILLE - Gloversville Police, responding to a domestic disturbance, have arrested an 18-year-old after he allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face and killed her cat.

Allen VanNostrand was arrested Sunday at 100 Lincoln Street after his girlfriend told police he killed her cat by repeatedly throwing it against a wall and snapping its neck.

His girlfriend suffered minor injuries.

VanNostrand was arraigned in Gloversville City Court and sent to jail on $2,500 bail.  He is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and assault.
