Schoharie River Day Festival preparations underway

BURTONSVILLE -- The Schoharie River Center is gearing up for their third annual Schoharie River Day Festival Saturday. The festival will feature a bike ride through historical Charleston, kayaking workshops, fishing, a guided nature walk, demonstrations by area crafters and artisans.

Executive Director of the River Center, John McKeeby, tells us the center is dedicated to learning more about the areas natural resources. They also assisted in flood recovery efforts throughout Schoharie County, and the center offers programs for students looking to learn about environmental resources. Money from the festival will go towards those activities.

The event is bringing positive energy to a community that has dealt with so much.

Sarah Goodrich, executive director of S.A.L.T, tells us it's vital for moral.

"There are so many great things this county has to offer, and it's important we showcase that," she tells us.

S.A.L.T. continues to rebuild after recent floods ravaged parts of the Schoharie Valley.

Schoharie River Day Festival kicks off at the River Center at 9am and will continue until 4pm. If you'd like more information on the festival, or would like to get involved with the River Center, visit their website at:
