Early morning burglaries in Rotterdam
ROTTERDAM -- The Rotterdam Police Department is investigating three residential burglaries that took place early Saturday morning.
The first burglary was discovered when a homeowner, responding to noises inside their home at 4:30am, discovered a man, thin build and about 5 feet tall, wearing dark clothing, in the kitchen of the home. The homeowner confronted the man who then fled out of the front door empty handed. The homeowner followed and observed a second man outside the residence wearing dark clothing, also fleeing. Responding officers discovered two more burglaries while checking the surrounding neighborhood.
The burglaries took place in close proximity to each other on Romano Drive and O'Brien Avenue. Entry was gained through a rear window in each instance. The suspects did steal a flat screen TV, laptop computer and cash.
Police want to remind residents to keep all doors and windows locked and to utilize exterior lighting. In addition to homes, residents are reminded to lock all vehicles parked outside their homes and to not leave valuables in their vehicles.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call the Rotterdam Police Detective Division at 355-7397
