Hudson Valley woman accused of embezzlement

CAIRO, N.Y. (AP) -- The treasurer of a fire company association in the Hudson Valley has been accused of embezzling from the organization.

State police say 52-year-old Mitzi-Su Fremgen of Durham was arrested on felony charges of fourth-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records.

They say she took an undisclosed amount of money for personal use and then created fake documents to cover up the theft from the Greene County Volunteer Fireman's Association.

Fremgen was arraigned Friday and is due back in the town of Cairo court on June 7. Court officials weren't available Monday to say if she has a lawyer or entered a plea.
