Americade motorcycle rally underway in Lake George
LAKE GEORGE -- Americade is the world's largest touring motorcycle rally, and it is underway in Lake George.
Local police say Americade attracts at least 100,000 - 200,000 visitors during the 8 day event, which runs until Saturday.
"I like to describe the event in 3 F's," says Americade Spokesperson, Ed Linville. "Friends, Fun, and Fellowship. Americade brings in some of the nicest people you will ever meet in your entire life."
Americade includes over 60 events, two massive trade shows with nearly 250 vendors, demos and displays from major motorcycle manufactures, catered boat cruises, exclusive rodeos, stunt and laser shows, comedy shows and much more.
Harley Davidson is celebrating their 110th anniversary this year. The well known company has been with Americade since the event started in 1983. For more information on the 110th anniversary of Harley Davidson click here.
Sena Technologies, Inc is also sponsoring Americade this year for the first time. Sena is a Bluetooth innovator in the motorcycle and outdoor activities market, and is just one of the many participating companies.
Americade Emcee, Fred Rowe has been a speaker and a guest of Americade for years. "This event is so much a part of me," says Rowe. "I have met some amazing people. All of my friends are here. I will never miss this week, and I will always be a part Americade."
Rowe rode his bike into Lake George with his wife from California. Rowe travels around the world on motorcycles, and has traveled hundred of thousands of miles.
Americade employees tell CBS6 the event is one of the biggest profits to the village of Lake George.
The event takes place every year, rain or shine, during the first full week of June.
The "Cade" was founded by Veteran motorcyclist Bill Dutcher, and a small staff. The first event ever, drew in over 2,000 people.
