Sheriff: Drunk man stole car, almost hit deputy head-on

CHESTER -- This is why you should never leave your keys in an unlocked car.
Warren County Sheriff's were called to a woman's home on Bird Pond Road in the Town of Chester when she heard her car leave her driveway.
A deputy who was responding to this call for the stolen vehicle had to swerve to get out of the way of a car to prevent a head-on collision.
That vehicle, which was the Jeep Liberty that had been reported stolen, pulled into a nearby driveway.
The deputy removed the driver, 23-year-old Nicholas Hier of Chester, and arrested him.
Hier was charged with felony grand larceny, DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation and other traffic infractions.
He was arraigned and remanded to Warren County Correctional Facility.
