Glens Falls pub fire 'suspicious'

GLENS FALLS - Police are calling a fire that destroyed a Glens Falls pub Tuesday morning, suspicious.

Fire broke out at Peter's Pub at 157 Maple Street around 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, gutting the first floor of the building and heavily damaging the apartment on the second floor.

A woman and her cat escaped the apartment with no injuries.

Police are looking at surveillance video from area businesses and from the pub to determine if anyone was in the area at the time of the fire.

The Glens Falls Fire Captain, Peter Casertino tells CBS6 that while he is not calling the fire arson, he does label it suspicious.  Police are also looking for witnesses that may have seen something in the area of Maple and Walnut Street, and to call Glens Falls Police.

Investigators say the fire began on a porch at the rear of the pub.
