FLOOD WATCH Through Friday Morning - Strong Wind Gusts Likely Christmas Day

Additional runoff from melting snow and one final round of steady heavier rainfall, due to move across the region from west to east between 3am and 8am, could become sufficient to produce flooding of small streams and creeks as well minor flooding of some main stem rivers into Friday morning.  Urban and poor drainage flooding will also be possible between 3am and 8am as the final round of rain moves through.  Strong westerly wind gusts will develop in the wake of the rain on Christmas Day, with gusts from 40-50 mph possible during the afternoon.

NYPD officer shot in foot outside hospital

NEW YORK (AP) -- A New York City police officer has suffered a foot wound in a hospital shooting.
Officer Fausto Gomez was struck in the instep of his left foot early Monday at Harlem Hospital. He was not seriously injured and expected to be released later Monday.
Authorities say Gomez and another officer were taking a man to the hospital for psychiatric evaluation. Police say the man had his hands cuffed behind him but managed to grab the gun from the holster of the other officer, and fired two shots.
Gomez was struck once. No one else was injured.
Police say a fast-thinking paramedic grabbed the gun out of the suspect's hands. Police say the suspect was taken to a different hospital for evaluation.

Charges are pending.
