Kay introduced as new NYRA President and CEO
ELMONT -- NYRA's Board of Directors unanimously approved Christopher Kay as the new President and CEO of the New York Racing Association on Tuesday. His appointment is effective on July 1.
In the past ten years, Kay, an attorney, has been a top executive at The Trust for Public Land, Universal Parks and Resorts, and Toys R Us.
During their announcement, the NYRA Board said that Kay is ethically sound - something the organization needs after it was forced to fire Charlie Hayward. A state investigation showed that Hayward knew the company was withholding more than $8 million that was due to bettors. Ellen McClain was named president after Hayward, but left the post.
