1-4 years for drunk man who crashed head-on into car, breaking victim's back
MILTON -- .18% -- twice the legal limit. That was Jeffrey Davenport's blood alcohol content when he crashed head-on into another vehicle back in December 2012, according to the Saratoga County District Attorney's Office.
Davenport, 23, pleaded guilty to felony vehicular assault and will spend 1 1/3 - 4 years in state prison when he is sentenced.
Davenport was driving on Middleline Road in Milton around 5 a.m. when he hit the oncoming car.
The woman in the other car broke her back as a result of the crash.
Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy spoke about the victim following Davenport's court appearance.
"The innocent victim broke her back and has a long road of substantial therapy and healing still ahead of her. She will never fully recover. While the defendant was on his way home from a night of partying and drinking, she was on her way to work at 5:00 am. It's so unfair that such a hardworking, bright young woman has to suffer because of his criminal conduct. A state prison sentence is the only appropriate sentence and we will ask the judge for four years in prison when he is sentenced on June 28th."
Along with prison time, Davenport will also be required to install an ignition interlock device for three years.
