Police scale back search for father and son

UPDATE - State Police and Fulton County Sheriff's Office have suspended the search for a father and son who may have gone fishing on Saturday May 18 on Great Sacandaga Lake

Fulton County Sheriff Thomas Lorey tells CBS6 that it was "not beyond the realm of possibility" that they have simply run off.

Police will continue spot checks of the location where 51-year-old Mark Richards and his son, 24-year-old Brent Richards reportedly went fishing.

Investigators are looking at cell phone and credit card records.

They were reported missing on Sunday.

BROADALBIN -- State and County Law Enforcement members were out on the Great Sacandaga Lake on Monday looking for two men who went fishing on Saturday.
The Fulton County Sheriff's Office said that 51-year-old Mark Richards and 24-year-old Brent Richards parked their vehicle near Macvean Road and launched their small boat from the Broadalbin Boat Launch.  They did not come home, and were reported missing on Sunday night.

The Sheriff's Office said that the vehicle was located and items that would have been in the boat were found floating near the shore.  A shoreline search did not turn up anything.
