NY hot dog vendor accused of prostitution
WESTBURY, N.Y. (AP) -- A Long Island hot dog seller who admitted soliciting for sex out of her vending truck is back in hot water.
Catherine Scalia pleaded not guilty as she was arraigned on a new misdemeanor prostitution charge Saturday in Hempstead. The 47-year-old told the judge police "keep framing" her. She said she didn't take any money during her encounter with an undercover detective Friday.
Police say she drove her truck to a Westbury motel to meet him. They say she massaged his shoulders, then offered sex for $100.
Scalia spent seven days in jail last year after pleading guilty to prostitution, though she denied she'd broken the law.
That time, she was accused of agreeing to perform a sex act on an undercover officer after he bought two hot dogs.
