Local distillery expands to Big Apple

ALBANY --- Albany’s first licensed distillery since the beginning of Prohibition just took a bite out of the Big Apple.

The Albany Distilling Company joined 23 of its brethren from across the state in the Manhattan Cocktail Classic over the weekend in New York City.

The event helped the company branch out within the Tri-State area, with select bars and liquor stores now carrying its products.

More than 3,000 people attended the event, that was made possible, by Governor Cuomo's Wine, Beer and Spirits Summit last year.

The summit helped pave the way for streamlined state regulations and requirements for spirits producers, and put state resources behind promoting products.

This summer ADco will add a new addition to the line-up, and introduce the Capital Region to their rye whiskey. They will also be crafting a homemade vodka in the near future.
