Vt. Senate votes to decriminalize marijuana
MONTPELIER, Vt. -- Legislation that would remove criminal penalties and replace them with civil fines like a traffic ticket for possession of up to an ounce of marijuana is up for a second vote in the Vermont Senate.
The Senate gave the measure preliminary approval by a vote of 24-6 on Tuesday.
The bill will be voted on again Wednesday before it returns to the House for consideration of relatively minor changes.
