NY troopers: 2 die in Herkimer County crash

FAIRFIELD (AP) -- State police are investigating a one-car crash that killed two people in Herkimer County.
Troopers say Sunday that 23-year-old Jordon Gross of Middleville was driving a 2007 Chevy Impala north on Route 28 in the town of Fairfield when he lost control and went off the road, hitting several trees. Gross was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger, 23-year-old Zackary Edwards of Little Falls, was flown to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but troopers say speed was apparently a factor.
