Man arrested for stabbing Amsterdam man in the neck

AMSTERDAM -- An Amsterdam man survived multiple stab wounds to the neck.
Amsterdam Police say the victim was attacked just before 10 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29th near the Five Corners Mobil on Church Street.
He was taken to Albany Medical Center for his injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.
Detectives say after the attack, several tips were called into the police station.
Following an investigation and those tips from the public, 22-year-old Michael Medina of Amsterdam was taken into custody on a bench warrant for failing to appear on a prior felony assault charge. He didn't come without a fight though.
Amsterdam Police say they found Medina hiding in a closet at 15 James Street. When they tried to arrest him, he became combative and bit an officer on the arm. He also spit on other officers.
Medina was charged with felony assault, resisting arrest, and failure to appear.
