Deadly motorcycle crash in Galway

GALWAY  -- Authorities say a 62-year-old motorcyclist is dead and a 9-year-old boy who was riding with him is hospitalized following a collision in Galway.

State Police say John Mackin of Corinth riding his motorcycle on Route 29 on Sunday afternoon when a car crossed into his lane, striking the bike head-on.

Mackin was pronounced dead at the scene. The boy suffered multiple fractures and is being treated at Albany Medical Center Hospital.

Troopers say the car's driver, 47-year-old Clyde Jones III of Gloversville, was treated at the scene and released. Two passengers, a 19-year-old woman and 4-year-old boy, were taken to the Albany hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the cause of the crash is under investigation.
