Prescription Take-Back Day Saturday

GREENPORT - Columbia County residents have a way to safely dispose of unused or expired medication at next National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

On Saturday April 27, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, (DEA), and law enforcement agencies will be working at two different locations accepting unused or unwanted prescription drugs from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  The two locations are the Public Safety Facility located at 85 Industrial Tract in Greenport.  The second location will be at the Sheriff’s Office Hillsdale Substation located at 2684 State Route 23, in the Town of Hillsdale.

Needles, IV bags, creams or liquids can not be accepted. The DEA states there are instructions on those items for proper disposal.

Dropping off prescription drugs is free and anonymous and will be disposed of properly so they will not be a potential hazard.
