Security measures at local marathons to change following Boston bombings

As the investigation into the Boston bombings continues, local marathon organizers and their host cities are already hard at work, coming up with security measures to prevent similar attacks.

One thing is clear, many of the community events we see in the Capital Region, marathons or otherwise, are going to change.

In Troy, festivals are commonplace.  Security at such events has been the talk of the police department today.

And things will change.  Even at the annual Turkey Trot.

Captain John Cooney says it's possible that backpacks will be banned from races and other such events.

Whatever measures are put in place, he is hopeful the public will be tolerant.
