Emerald Ash Borer found in Capital Region

WRGB Staff

ALBANY -- The emerald ash borer has been found in the Capital Region.

The Department of Natural Resources at Cornell University today announced that the invasive species has been found in the Albany area.

The asian bug attacks ash trees. That infestation eventually kills the trees and causes them to fall, causing damage.

Officials warn that people with ash trees in their care have to make sure they keep an eye on them. They recommend people treat the trees with pesticides to help prevent the bug from spreading farther into the area.
