Massive fire breaks out at senior housing complex; Woman, firefighter injured

LENOX, Mass. -- One woman was taken to the hospital and almost 50 residents were evacuated when a fire broke out at a Lenox senior housing complex.
Fire Chief Daniel Clifford says the fire reported just after 7 p.m. Thursday was knocked quickly and appears to have started in a second-floor unit. The cause remains under investigation.
Clifford tells The Berkshire Eagle (http://bit.ly/152XRHT ) emergency personnel had to administer CPR on the resident of the unit where the blaze started to get her pulse back. The resident, whose name was not disclosed, was taken to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
A firefighter also was taken to the hospital and treated for exhaustion.
Many residents were forced out of the building in their pajamas and without shoes, including 91-year-old Vivien Werner.
