Nor'easter to Bring a Heavy to Major Snowfall Monday Night into Tuesday Night

A major Nor'easter is expected to develop south of New England Monday night, potentially getting stuck near Cape Cod into Tuesday before moving away Tuesday night.  This storm will bring heavy snow and gusty wind at times causing blowing and drifting snow, potential whiteout conditions at times leading to dangerous travel late Monday night through Tuesday.  Snow accumulations of 10" to 20" will be possible, especially in the Hudson valley and across western New England with amounts up to 10" in the Mohawk valley and western Catskills.

Off duty officer helps nab robbery suspect

NISKAYUNA - An off duty Schenectady police officer assists in  the arrest of a man who is accused of robbing a Trustco Bank.

Niskayuna police say 31-year-old Robert Costello of Watervliet entered the Trusco Bank at 3641 State Street Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.  With his face covered, he handed the teller a note demanding money.  He did not display a weapon, and Costello left the bank without any cash.

An off duty Schenectady police officer noticed Costello leaving the bank and followed him to a Schenectady house.  When officers arrived, Costello was arrested after trying to flee from the back door of house.

Costello is charged with attempted robbery and attempted grand larceny.

He was arraigned in Niskayuna Town Court and sent to Schenectady County Jail without bail.

Costello's next court date is in April.
