CNSE announces partnership
ALBANY -- Lieutenant Governor Robert Duffy was at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering Wednesday to announce a partnership between the school and the Israeli government. Israel will invest $300 million in the facility for research and development in the first year of the agreement.
Duffy said the partnership will lead to job creation in the Capital Region. Israeli companies will use CNSE facilities for research and development of high-tech products.
CNSE CEO Dr. Alain Kaloyeros said Israel is leading the way in nanoscience work, and the partnership will prove positive for both states -- New York and Israel.
Leaders at the school were asked about recent reports CNSE may split from the State University system. Kaloyeros said he and the school work well with the SUNY system, and such a split would be announced publicly if it were to happen.
