Federal employees rally to stop sequester

ALBANY -- Members of the National Treasury Employees Federation Union gathered with other Albany-area federal employees to speak out against the sequester.
The deep automatic spending cuts kicked in earlier this month when the White House and lawmakers in Washington, DC could not reach an agreement on how to avoid the cuts.  As a result, thousands of jobs are on the chopping block, including more than 150 local Internal Revenue Service employees who are facing severe budget cuts and potential furloughs.
The group said the IRS is already under severe funding reductions and is down 5,000 employees from just two years ago.
