Survey: NY 49th in business friendly states

ALBANY -- A group of nearly one thousand CEO's ranked New York State 49th in business friendly states.

The report by Business Executive Magazine shows New York ranks only behind California in states who have a business friendly climate. The survey was put together with 736 CEOs from around the country, including "many" in New York, said the J.P. Donlon the author of the report.

"It is a high taxed, high regulatory, high bureaucratic region," said Donlon. "That is a barrier that CEO's will reconsider when the time comes."

The top 5 states who were considered the most business friendly were Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Indiana.

In response to the survey Governor Cuomo's office said the numbers show New York is working for business.

"Business works on the bottom line, here's ours, New York State has more private sector jobs than any time in history," said Rich Azzopardi, spokesman for Governor Cuomo.
