Man pleads in NY SAFE Act violation

MOREAU - The man charged for violating the NYS Safe Act has plead not guilty on charges.

State Police say 51-year-old William Greene offered an assault style rifle for sale on a gun enthusiast Facebook page.  An undercover investigator responded to the posting, and successfully purchased the weapon.

"We obviously believe we have done nothing to violate the law and we have pled not guilty. We are hardworking, average citizens, and have the utmost faith in our justice system," Mr. Greene said. "We strongly believe in the Second Amendment and the protection it affords all of us. This case is now in the hands of the court and we will let the case take its course. We would ask that you please respect our privacy and we thank you for your support."

Greene has been charged with unlawful transfer of an assault weapon and disposing of a weapon without a NICS background check.
