Comments 0 | Recommend 0TROY – Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Kason Gabbard will be making his third minor league rehab start as a member of the Lowell Spinners against the Tri-City ValleyCats Tuesday July 28th, at Joe Bruno Stadium. Gabbard had originally been scheduled to pitch Monday night, but he was been pushed back a day.
Gabbard was drafted in the 2000 Amateur Entry Draft in the 29th round by the Boston Red Sox. He progressed in the minors, starting in the Gulf Coast League in 2000 as a 19 year-old, steadily working his way up to the Red Sox in 2006. Gabbard went 1-3 with a 3.51 ERA with the Sox in his first season.
Kason was demoted back to Pawtucket to start the 2007 season, but found his way back on the Red Sox roster. He went 4-0 with a 3.73 ERA before he was traded to Texas with Daniel Murphy for Eric Gagne.
Gabbard found his way back on to the Red Sox this season. He was traded for cash considerations. The ValleyCats face the Lowell Spinners at 7 pm on Tuesday. Gates will open at 6 pm.
