Pharmacy robber who used bomb threats arrested
Albany Police say they've arrested the man accused of robbing a pharmacy for methadone and morphine, thanks to DNA evidence.
Paul Zarvis, 50, of Hackett Blvd., was arrested last night and charged with two counts of first-degree robbery. Police say Zarvis robbed a CVS store at 613 New Scotland Ave. last December, and a Rite Aid store on June 30th.
In the December robbery, Zarvis allegedly approached a pharmacist and threatened the pharmacist with a grenade-like device, demanding methadone and morphine.
In the June 30th Rite Aid robbery, Zarvis also threatened the pharmacist with a bomb-like device in exchange for methadone and oxycontin.
Police say a DNA hit from the December robbery led them to Zarvis. No bomb device was found at his home during the arrest yesterday.
Zarvis was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court this morning and remanded to Albany County Jail.
