Albany Man Sentenced 9 Years After Stealing Guns
A 42-year-old Albany man was sentenced to 9 years in prison and 5 years probation after pleading guilty to felony second-degree burglary back in April.
According to Albany County District Attorney David Soares, this was Robert Dempsey's second burglary conviction. He was convicted of third-degree attempted burglary in March of 2002.
It was in the overnight hours between July 30th and 31st, 2007 that Dempsey broke into a home at 225 Western Avenue through a window, Soares said.
Inside, Dempsey stole a rifle and a shotgun, along with various other items.
Police later received a call about a man walking down the street with guns, and upon responding, recovered the guns from Dempsey.
Soares said fingerprints lifted from the window were able to match Dempsey to the crime.
