Troopers say Broome County 911 dispatchers got reports late Sunday night of a vehicle traveling west in the eastbound lanes of Route 17 in the town of Windsor, just east of Binghamton.
Troopers were able to pull the driver over on Interstate 81 at Exit 4 in Binghamton. They identified the driver as Reynold Smith of Albany, who had been reported missing on Saturday.
Sgt. Chad Buckley says Smith had driven at least 5 miles in the wrong direction before being stopped.
No one was injured.
Smith was ticketed for driving the wrong way. His daughter arrived from Albany to take him home.
