June 30, 2008 - 1:23 PM

If you're getting phone calls about your car warranty, be warned: it's a scam.

It's a call many of us in the newsroom have received: an automated message asking you to shell out money for an extended warranty on your car.

A few tips: never give out your personal financial information over the phone, unless you're completely sure of who yo u're dealing with.

Also, always get information in writing before you agree to anything.

Lastly, check to see if you already have a car warranty or if it's expired.
