Wake For Former Troy Mayor

September 7, 2008 - 9:45 PM

Hundreds gathered Sunday to pay their respects to the youngest man ever elected mayor of Troy.  Neil Kelleher died this past Thursday, after a short illness. Calling hours were held at the John J. Sanvidge funeral home in Lansingburgh.

Kelleher was remembered as a devoted public servant with a great sense of humor. He was elected mayor of troy in 1959 at the age of 36. Before that he served in the Navy in World War II.  He was elected to the state assembly in 1966, where he served for 13 terms before retiring in 1992.
