VP Biden lands amid tight security at Albany International
Vice President Joseph Biden's plane touched down at Albany International Airport at 2 p.m. on Thursday, marking the first stop in his trip to Clifton Park's Shenendehowa High School.
Mr. Biden climbed into a limousine, which departed about ten minutes later in a New York State Police-led motorcade.
All air traffic in and out of Albany International, and all vehicular traffic on Albany-Shaker Road, was halted during an approximately 15-minute stretch.
Security was tight for Mr. Biden's arrival. Albany County Sheriff's deputies, state troopers, and Secret Service agents were widely dispersed, while a chopper made security sweeps over the runways and adjacent parking lots.
Before the motorcade left, it had been buffered from an access road by a line of yellow dump trucks. An ambulance was parked alongside as a precautionary measure.
Albany Airport spokesman Doug Meyers declined to comment on specific operations, citing protocol and the sensitive nature of the security measures.
