CBS 6 News anchor Greg Floyd talked Tuesday night with the woman who was on the scene as UAlbany student Richard Bailey was shot and killed on South Lake Avenue in Albany Monday night. Here is his account of what that woman told him:
I talked to the woman who was on the scene as all this happened and she shared her chilling story with me.
She was just driving home on South Lake Ave. when she heard the shot. She turned her head and saw the body on the ground.
She said the next thing she saw was even more horrifying: two young teens -- she didn't get a good look at them, but she's sure they were young, and that's what horrified her, she said, because "how could someone so young do something like this?"
They were riding away on bicycles, turning right on Morris and disappearing into the night.
She told me she has no doubt it was those two young people who killed Richard Bailey.
She also told me that at the same time another car was coming in the opposite direction, and that driver would have been at an angle to possibly see the faces of the young people on the bikes.
But that driver kept right on going.
