Halloween Trick-or-Treating hours in Schenectady
Comments 0Trick-or-Treating hours in Schenectady will be Saturday, Oct. 31, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“Once again, we’re asking trick-or-treaters to conclude their door-to-door visits by 8 p.m., and for those at home to turn off porch lights and stop handing out goodies at that time as well,” Mayor Stratton said. “Above all, we want to ensure that everyone has a safe and happy Halloween.”
The Schenectady Police Department will also be handing out candy at the Police Station on Liberty Street, from 3 to 8 PM or until the candy runs out.
The following safety tips have been established by the city of Schenectady to help make this Halloween a safe one:
- Wear light-colored clothing that’s short enough to prevent tripping, and add reflective tape to the sides, front and back of the costume
- Make sure that children can see well through masks, or use cosmetics to create fun or scary faces
- Adults should accompany young children
- Go out in daylight and carry a flashlight during hours of darkness
- Stay within the neighborhood and only visit homes you know
- Watch for traffic
- Only give and accept wrapped or packaged candy
- Examine all candy before allowing children to eat it
- Keep costumed children away from pets. Pets may not recognize children and become frightened
- Avoid hard plastic or wood props such as daggers or swords. Substitute with foam rubber which is soft and flexible
