Vehicle after hit by train

Two sisters from Canajoharie say they're counting their blessings this holiday after nearly being hit by a train.

Bonnie and Kimberly Boroski were driving, on their way to do some Christmas shopping last Thursday night when Kimberly, the driver, swerved to avoid a deer in the road.

The car struck a nearby ditch and flipped over on to the nearby train tracks on Route 5 and Antlers Road in Tribes Hill in Montgomery County.

Minutes later, a train hit that car.

But that car, now wrecked and mangled, was empty. Because just as that car flipped over on to the tracks, a man witnessed the accident and, thinking quickly, jumped into action to free the sisters from the vehicle.

That man happened to be Galway Fire Chief Chad Jazwinski.

Jazwinski says he's happy that he could help -- but as a firefighter, saving lives is what he does.

The Borkoskis thank him for being in the right place at the right time.
