Staples to host Teacher Appreciation Day on Saturday
The office supply store Staples will host its annual Teacher Appreciation Day this Saturday from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M.
In addition to sales on highlighters, pens and other teacher-friendly supplies, the store will offer five-cent black-and-white copies of school materials throughout the back-to-school season.
The first 100 teachers at each store will receive a free bag of supplies containing notebooks and writing tools.
The day is designed to prevent teachers from spending too much of their own money for school supplies for students. A Perry Research Professionals study showed that educators spent an average of $395 of their own money during the 2007-2008 school year. First-year teachers spent an average of $770 on school supplies during the same school year.
Local Staples stores participating in the appreciation day include:
-600 Greenbush Rd., Rensselaer
-241 Rt. 9W, Glenmont
-1440 Central Ave., Albany
-601 Troy-Schenectady Rd., Latham
-1350 Altamont Ave., Rotterdam
-24 Maxwell Drive, Clifton Park
Happy shopping, teachers!
