How Much Does Your Local School Superintendent Make?
Ever wonder how much your local school principal or district superintendent makes? Take a look at this list obtained exclusively by CBS 6.
Your tax dollars are regularly supporting six-digit salaries, plus benefits packages worth 30-, 40-, and even 50-thousand dollars.
The highest salary for a superintendent in New York State can be found in Levittown on Long Island, where the job pays $313,127.
Local school administrator salaries aren't nearly as eyebrow-raising -- but they are still high, with some making even more than the governor. In 2007, Gov. Eliot Spitzer drew a salary of $179,000, according to stateline.org.
Compare that to the superintendent job in the East Greenbush district, which pays $180,000. Shenendehowa district pays $178,464; Albany $178,190; and Schenectady $160,968.
