Disgust at Hunger As Motivation Comment

For 13 years Pastor Charlie Muller has brought his free lunch program to inner city Albany children every summer.  The Victory Christian Church minister known also for his gun buy back program...is getting ready to expand the summer meal program into Troy and Cohoes.  Then this week Muller hears of a statement from a Missouri State lawmaker...Cynthia Davis..who believes free lunch programs are a waste of taxpayer dollars and that hunger Davis feels..can be a motivator for needy kids.  Pastor Charlie called the comment..ignorant and ridiculous.  Albany Common Council member Barbara Smith said the statement is damaging..and said the Missouri lawmaker is equating modern American urban problems with Victorian England. Muller is also concerned that comments made by Davis can have a negative impact on his program. Thru a federal agriculture department feeding grant Muller says he gets three dollars for every meal he gives out. Legislator Davis has said it might be more effective to have poor kids get jobs at places like McDonalds where they can get free meals during their breaks.
