Stillwater Police arrested 22-year-old Aaron Steckler of Saratoga Hills Trailer Park in Stillwater, and charged him with Aggravated Cruelty to an Animal, a Class E Felony.

Police say Steckler pick a dog up by it's throat during a fit of anger, and slammed it to the ground.

The 6 month-old Jack Russell Terrier puppy sustained a fractured tibia and fibula on one of it's hind legs.

The dog was transported to a Stillwater animal hospital for treatment, where it is being held. 

Police say injuries will require extensive surgical repair.

Steckler was arraigned in Stillwater Town Court and later transported to Saratoga County Jail with $1000.00 bond bail.
