Repairing history in Berkshire County

The steeple of the First Congregational Church of Lee, Mass., noted for being the tallest wooden construction of its kind in New England, will begin a facelift process today.
The historic steeple, which measures 200 feet tall, is more than 150 years old and in disrepair, according to the church.
A large part of the top will be removed at about 8 a.m. and eventually rebuilt. Church leaders hope to have it re-installed by early summer.
A crew from Moore's Steeple People, of Chicopee, Mass., will be doing the work.
