The report of a possible toxic chemical leak from a train shortly before midday Saturday southwest of Albany turned out to be a false alarm.
Police and firefighters responded to the area in Duanesburg and closed a road for several hours. A passer-by had reported fluid coming from a moving train in the rural area about 11:20 a.m.
Saturday and called police.
Schenectady County director of emergency management William VanHoesen says emergency responders were investigating the possible leak of several gallons of the herbicide sodium hydroxide.
However, State Police say the investigation showed there was no spill.
