Coeymans man charged in son's killing
Sitting in silence in Coeymans Town Court in Ravena, 44-year-old Glenn Vosburgh looked down and did not move, except to answer a question from his attorney.
Vosburgh had just been arrested at a friend's home in Rensselaerville, accused of shooting to death his son, 18-year-old Craig Vosburgh, on Monday morning, a little after midnight at their home on 9W just north of the Ravena Coeymans Selkirk schools.
Attorney Joseph Warren was by Vosburgh's side during the arraignment and said he had known him for years. He said Vosburgh found his son's body and called police.
"He's very distraught," said Warren. "All he could tell me was he didn't do it, and I believe him."
During the arraignment, Judge Kevin Reilly tried several times to get Vosburgh's attention, but Vosburgh acted as though he heard nothing. After Reilly explained Vosburgh's rights and asked whether he understood, Vosburgh only shook his head.
Two hours earlier, as police gathered evidence from the house, 17-year-old Laura Flynn told CBS 6 News she knew the victim and described him as "a really good kid. He made some silly choices sometimes, but he would always put himself before others. He was just a good kid." Flynn said her friend had attended Greenville High School last year and had earned a G.E.D.
Police say Craig Vosburgh was pronounced dead inside the house. They did not say how they were notified of the killing, nor how they identified the teen's father as the suspect.
Assistant District Attorney David Gonzalez said the DA's office would present its evidence to a grand jury Friday morning.
Vosburgh is being held without bail.
