Men arrested while selling stolen gun on street, Columbia County sheriff says
VALATIE -- Three men have been arrested for selling a handgun stolen from a Valatie home, the Columbia County Sheriff announced today.
Keith Moulaison, 26, of Kinderhook; Matthew Kelly, 18, of Niverville; and Christopher Alston, 27, of Richmond, Va., were arrested late Tuesday morning as they sold the handgun on New Street in Valatie, said Sheriff David Harrison, Jr.
According to the sheriff, investigators were looking into a burglary of a Valatie home reported September 20th that involved the theft of a Smith & Wesson 38-caliber revolver. Investigators say the same handgun had possibly been used in a home invasion in Greene County.
The three men were arrested by uniformed members of the Sheriff's Office SWAT team and sheriff's investigators. Moulaison and Kelly were charged with felony third-degree criminal sale of a firearm and misdemeanor fifth-degree conspiracy. Alston was charged with misdemeanor fifth-degree conspiracy.
All three were arraigned in the Village of Valatie Court and remanded to the county jail.
