Albany County Sheriff's Department promotes two veteran members
The Albany County Sheriff's Office has promoted two veteran members, Sheriff James Campbell announced today.
Craig Apple, who started in the department as a correction officer in 1987, has been promoted to undersheriff. Apple, 41, was sworn in as deputy sheriff in 1990, and has since held the ranks of sergeant, investigator, senior investigator, lieutenant and captain. He has been chief deputy since March 1999.
Matthew Campbell, who joined the department as a deputy sheriff in 1990, has been promoted to chief deputy of law enforcement. Campbell served 13 years in the drug interdiction unit, holding the ranks of investigator and senior investigator. In 2005, he was promoted to the rank of captain and was in charge of the Voorheesville Patrol Station.
