Ex-CSEA treasurer sentenced for embezzling union funds
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The 53-year-old labor union treasurer from Wynantskill convicted of embezzlement has been sentenced to three years of probation.
Carol Bruno was sentenced in federal court in Albany yesterday after pleading guilty to embezzling $40,501.03 in union funds and equipment while she was treasurer of Civil Service Employees Association, Region IV, from 2004 to 2006 in Albany.
The first ten months of her probation are to include home confinement, according to regional U.S. attorney Andrew Baxter. Bruno will also have to pay a special assessment of $100 to the court.
An investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor found Bruno had used a checking account to access union funds for personal use.
